1. World Bank forecasted in its report titled 'Global Outlook: Disappointments, Divergences, and Expectations Global Economic Prospects' that the global economy grew by an estimated 2.6 per cent in 2014, and is projected to expand by 3.3 per cent in 2016 and 3.2 per cent in 2017. According to this report, developing countries grew by 4.4 per cent in 2014 and are expected to edge up to 4.8 per cent in 2015, strengthening to 5.3 and 5.4 per cent in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

2. RBI chief Raghuram Rajan has been named as the "governor of the year" in the Central Banking Awards for 2015 by a British magazine Central Banking. Central Banking has declared Rajan Governor of the Year and Reserve Bank of New Zealand as Central Bank of the Year.

3. Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off the first CNG based two trains from Haryana 's Rewari station. These trains based on the dual fuel system - diesel and CNG - will reduce greenhouse gas emission and also the consumption of diesel.

4. Public Sector's Kotak Mahindra Bank launched Jifi Saver, a social savings bank account that can be managed via Twitter and Facebook. Jifi Saver customers will earn savings interest rate offered to all savings account holders, i.e., 6 per cent p.a. on balance of above Rs. 1 lakh and 5 per cent on balance up to Rs. 1 lakh.

5. Global defence and aerospace company BAE Systems has appointed HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh as a non-executive Director and Chairman of its Indian subsidiary, BAE Systems India (Services).

6. A pilot programme was launched to make it easier for Indian business and tourism visitors to apply online for travel to Australia.
The pilot programme, which has been kicked off on a trial basis will be rolled out through selected travel agents across India. This trial will make it easier for Indian visitors to apply for visas to travel to Australia.

7. Raghuram Rajan, Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Mario Draghi, President of the European Central Bank (ECB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of central banking. The MoU provides a framework for regular exchange of information, policy dialogue and technical cooperation between the two institutions.

8. Indian designer duo Shane and Falguni Peacock, who have designed for the likes of Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez, have been honoured with the Bharat Samman Award for 2014, constituted by the NRI Institute 27 years ago. The Bharat Samman Awards are given to a select group of people of Indian origin by NRI institute, a non-profit NGO registered body, for outstanding achievements in the chosen field of activities.

9. Buoyed by the economic reform measures taken by the Indian government after coming to power in May last year, the World Bank has said that India would catch up with China's growth in the year 2016-17. The World Bank in its report also forecast a growth rate of seven per cent each in the fiscal year 2016 and 2017 as against China's 7 per cent and 6.9 per cent respectively.
This would be for the first time in recent past that India's growth rate would catch up with that of the Asian giant China.

10. The Oberoi, Mumbai has been voted the best hotel in the world by Institutional Investor, USA, The 2014 World's Best Hotels. It is for the first time that an Indian hotel has been ranked as World's Best Hotel in this global survey. Institutional Investor polled senior executives from 42 countries, who spent 50 nights or more a year at hotels last year.
