1. Days after his retirement as the chief of India’s external intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Alok Joshi has been appointed as the Senior Adviser to National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO). Joshi, a Haryana cadre IPS officer of the 1976 batch, has served in the Intelligence Bureau and RAW for years.

2. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the medical and health department of Andhra Pradesh.


3. Cameroon and West Ham midfielder Alex Song has retired from international football after his exclusion from his country's Africa Cup of Nations squad.

4. FMCG major Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. has fully acquired South Africa's hair extensions firm Frika Hair (Pty) Ltd. for an undisclosed sum. In a BSE filing, GCPL said both the companies have entered into an agreement for the acquisition of 100 per cent equity stake of Frika.

5. The Reserve Bank has allowed foreign investors to buy up to 49 percent of the paid-up capital of Bajaj Corp Ltd. "Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs)/Registered Foreign Portfolios Investors (RFPIs) can now invest up to 49 percent of the paid-up capital of Bajaj Corp under the Portfolio Investment Scheme (PIS)," RBI said in a notification. As of quarter ended September 2014, FIIs held 15.21 percent in the company.

6. President Pranab Mukherjee appointed Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir by using the rights conferred by Article 100 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, as the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. He was functioning as the acting Chief Justice after the superannuation of Chief Justice M.M. Kumar.


7. South African batsman Alviro Petersen has retired from international cricket following the conclusion of the third Test against West Indies. Thirty four years old Peterson made his debut in international cricket in 2006 through one day but later he became the specialist Test opener batsman.

8. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and her Democratic congressional colleague Dr. Ami Bera have been sworn in for their second consecutive term in the US House of Representatives. Gabbard, the first ever Hindu lawmaker, took her oath on Gita as the 114th session of the US Congress began. She was administered the oath of office by the Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner.

9. Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation of 400/220 kV sub-station with 2000 MVA Capacity of POWERGRID at Tughlakabad, Delhi.


10. The President of India has promulgated the Citizenship (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015 with immediate effect which provides for the amendments to the Indian Citizen Act, 1955: At present one year continuous stay in India is mandatory for Indian Citizenship which is relaxed stating that if the Central Government is satisfied that special circumstances exist, it may, after recording such circumstances in writing, relax the period of twelve months specified upto a maximum of thirty days which may be in different breaks.
