1. Thirty-two years after the project was sanctioned, the first indigenously -built Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) was handed over by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to the Indian Air Force.
 
2. Third seeded Indo-Canadian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Daniel Nestor won the Apia International tennis tournament’s men’s doubles title, defeating the second seeded team of Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer and Romanian Horia Tecau 6-4, 7-6 (5).
 
3. Nadir Patel has been appointed as Canada's new high commissioner to India. He is the first Canadian of Indian origin appointed as envoy to New Delhi.
 

4. Former Australia coach Ric Charlesworth and former Dutch coach Max Caldas were awarded the inaugural Coach of the Year for the men's and women's team respectively by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

5. An eminent Indian-American entrepreneur and philanthropist Frank Islam has been presented with the prestigious Martin Luther King Jr Award in recognition of his contribution to the legacy of the civil rights pioneer through his efforts in international service and civil engagement.
 
6. Sania Mirza took a step forward in her quest to become world number one as the Indian equalled her career-best doubles rank of five, following her stupendous title win at the WTA Apia International with Bethanie Mattek-Sands in Sydney.
 
7. Two Indian banks, HDFC Bank and State Bank of India (SBI), now figure in a list of the top 50 global banks in terms of market capitalisation. According to Bloomberg data HDFC Bank, India’s second-largest private lender in terms of asset size, ranks 45th, with a market capitalisation of $39 billion. With a market capitalisation of $38 billion, SBI is ranked 46th.
         
8. Weightlifter Jimjang Deru of Arunachal Pradesh created a national record by lifting 238 kgs in the under 56 kg category at the 10th Youth National Weightlifting Championship held in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. National champion in the category for the past three years, Deru lifted 103 kgs in Snatch and 135 kg in Clean & Jerk to clinch the gold for the event.
 
9. South Africa batsman AB de Villiers has scored the fastest-ever one-day international half century and century during South Africa's run-laden innings against the West Indies.
 
10. The Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Uma Bharati announced that the Year 2015-16 will be celebrated as ‘Jal Kranti Varsh (Year)’ across the country.  The programme will be celebrated in each district of the country and all efforts will be made to conserve and save water.
