About 'Dangal' movie:
'Dangal 'is biopic of a wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and director/ writer Nitesh Tiwari, beautifully puts forward the importance of 'girl child empowerment'. The story moves around famous wrestler sisters Geeta and Babita Phogat, coming from a village named Balali, located in the Bhiwani district of Haryana State in India. In a male dominated society it is really difficult for girls and women to pursue career in wrestling which has been gender biased for a long time. The movie clearly depicts various difficult phases which Mahavir and his daughters have faced from the society in their journey to reach the zenith. The movie is also about a father, Mahavir Singh Phogat,who himself a wrestler has always dreamt of getting a recognition for India; however he could not achieve this dream. In the meanwhile, his wife has given birth to fourth girl child in consecution. Suddenly Mahavir realizes that his girls are much better than boys and he decides to become their coach and starts training them in wrestling.
About 'Dangal' Sisters:
Real life wrestling champions, Geeta and Babita are 'Dabang' in true sense because not only did they chose to play wrestling but they also defeated male wrestlers which is an achievement in itself. 'Dangal' is another name for wrestling competition. It was at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi where Geeta and Babita won their first gold and silver medals, respectively.
In the year 2012, Geeta participated in the London Olympics; however she could not win any medal.
